Thank-you all once again for your outstanding support throughout 2024. As we reflect back on this past year, we are thrilled to announce that we were the #1 Sales Team for Coldwell Banker Distinctive Properties for 2024. This includes all of the markets that are located everywhere from Idaho, Montana, Colorado, Kansas and Iowa. Our team posted a 24% increase in sales volume over 2023. This is quite an accomplishment as the entire market for Mesa County was only up 7% year over year. In addition, The Shafer Team was named as one of the Best In The West for Real Estate Teams in Mesa County for the second year in a row.
The Grand Junction/ Mesa County area also experienced some highs and lows in 2024:
Positives: (Just to name a few)
- USA Today named Grand Junction as the “Best Place to Live In Colorado” (June 2024)
- Amazon opened a distribution center and began hiring approximately 100 individuals from the area.
- City of Grand Junction broke ground on the new Community Rec Center.
- The new Grand Junction High School opened their doors to students in August.
- Denver Broncos placed Bo Nix in the line-up as the starting quarterback – first playoff berth since 2015!
Negatives:
- Costco decided to pull their plans for a new store here in the Grand Valley, at least for the time being.
- City of Grand Junction implemented a questionable (horrible) Traffic plan for 4th and 5th Streets.
- School District #51 announced the closure of 3 Elementary schools as of the 2025-2026 school year.
- Trader Joe’s still has not added Grand Junction to its’ list of new markets in which to open.
