Congratulations!
May is always one of my favorite months of the year. It is the perfect time to plant our veggies in the garden, the flowers in the pots and baskets, dust off our patios and get ready for the wonderful outdoor season that makes living in Western Colorado so perfect. Mother’s Day, Graduation ceremonies, JUCO, Memorial Day, end of the school year for students throughout the area….May is a celebration month.
A big shout out is due for Josh Niernberg, the owner and Chef of Bin 707 on Main Street in Downtown Grand Junction. Josh was selected as a finalist by the James Beard Foundation for the prestigious culinary James Beard Award. There are only five chefs in the United States to make the list and Grand Junction is home to one of the very finest. The award ceremony will take place in Chicago on June 15. Josh, we are very proud of you and all of your accomplishments. Thank-you for your hard work and dedication.
This month we also have another cause for celebration…the citizens of Grand Junction had their voices heard and the City Council wisely decided to reverse the decision to restrict traffic flow on the downtown 4th and 5th Streets. Hallelujah!!! It took some organization by the local citizens and business owners to speak up and make their voices heard along with some newer council members. Thank-you everyone for your diligence.
